iPhone App
Spellet combines strategy and action to create a challenging word puzzler.
At the start of every game, the target word is displayed at the bottom of the iPhone screen. Balloons with letters are randomly positioned on the center of the screen. The goal is to tap one of four cannons to fire a pellet. The pellet follows whatever is on its path. A popped balloon displays the letter in the word window at the top of the screen. Players must hit the balloons in the proper order to spell the target word. The level is complete once the word windows matches the target word.
While the game has a lot of bells and whistles (or in this case rubber bands), it lacks in the multiplayer and scoring department. The main concern that I have with Spellet is that it doesn’t penalize or award gamers. The objective is to make it to the next level, but there are no points, stars or ranking systems. Furthermore, gamers can use the hints button every game without a penalty. These factors make Spellet a great solo game, but players who enjoy competing against their own scores or with friends may be disappointed.
Overall, Spellet is a lot of fun for word puzzle junkies. The wide variety of game elements and surprising twists help give it a high replay value. With 100 challenging levels divided into unique stages, Spellet is sure to keep players occupied for many hours. Spell your way to victory in this addicting puzzler.
