AOpen Media Express MES300 is a RISC based media player design for price sensitive digital signage application markets. It equips IMAPX200 1GHz I/D catch 32bit ARM 1136JF-S core as CPU, 512 MB of 800MHz DD2II memory and support solid state disk such as SD/SDHC and USB flash drive as system storage.
RISC is short for Reduced Instruction Set Computing, a CPU design strategy based on the insight that simplified instructions can provide higher performance if this simplicity enables much faster execution of each instruction. MES300 equips a HDMI (High-Definition Multimedia Interface) port for full HD content. Furthermore, it supports RTSP protocol for high quality network stream video playback. And it adapts Multilanguage ticker and schedule management for content and playback.
For better connectivity, the MES300 sports two SD/SDHC card slots for more storage capability. It natively supports various popular format including MPEG2, MPEG4/AVC, H.264, and VC-1 video formats; JPEG, BMP, PIF, PNG and TIFF image formats; AAC, MP3 and OGG audio formats.
